Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This emaze evaluates all of our media products such as our music video, digipak and website and how it uses, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products. All of the evaluation is comprised in this Emaze presentation.Powered by emaze

Question 2: How Effective is the Combination of Your Main Product and Ancillary Texts?

We began creating the music video 20/09/2016 and from we have all focused on finishing the music video and making every shot look good and suit the music. Since the music video was near to completion myself and Harrison have focused on creating the website and Ben focused on creating the Digi Pak and other ancillary tasks. As Iuris is a new artist we all needed to make sure that we included everything from iconography, which included the image that we had to create for the artist. We also had to create the synergy for our artist throughout the music video and through the ancillary tasks therefore the audience will be able to see a connection between all of the products and able to relate the products back to Iuris. All the products that we have created had to look as professional as possible and also had to look good as a whole product and work together as a package, otherwise the products would look bad and poorly created.
We also created social media pages on: Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as another form of marketing campaigns and the website was created to make the artist as authentic as possible. One of the main goals for us an artist and a group was that our audience could relate to: being themselves and have fun, youthful and friendly. As I was a single artist only one personality was shown, therefore the other personality was shown through the other tasks such as the poster.
As Iuris is a lone artist the website was all about him as the artist, the first part of the website when someone visits the website is a image of the artist, introducing the artist instantly. The image had to be of the artist and had to show that it is a single artist not a band, it also had to successfully introduce the artist, through outfit and location, both are seen throughout the music video.
Throughout all of our products that we created as a group for the artist we used one font, therefore as Besom was the only font that we used for everything that was a way to identify us through the font as a connection between everything which made everything more professional.

This is the first page that is shown when visiting the Iuris website (http://iamiuris.wixsite.com/iuris) and it has the graffiti wall and known outfit with artist as the background image as these are all seen throughout the music video and other products. Before we began to create the website we carried out research to similar artists to us that we have used before for other research for other ancillary tasks. Myself and Harrison researched Bon Iver and $uicideBoy$ as these are both similar artists, furthermore we got inspiration from layout of the similar artists websites and able to get what to include into the website and what should not be included in the website, such as set of images.

This is the first page that is shown on the $uicideBoy$ website (https://suicideboys.bandcamp.com/) and the website is a basic layout with album covers images being used as the first page seen when the website is opened, the layout of the first page is very basic and easy to see everything. From researching this website we made sure that our website was easily navigated and everything could easily be seen. Therefore this would make our website suit our artist more and this would result in a more professional website.

This is the first page shown on the Bon Iver website which is just simple symbols that are used for synergy for Bon Iver throughout other ancillary tasks. Therefore we inputted the similar idea of adding my drawings of the Iuris logo designs in some pages of the website. To portray this into our artist we implemented similar symbols into our website and our Digi Pak, therefore this made the artist more professional and by using symbols our artist was more recognisable as an artist.

These are the Instagram pages of Eden (the left) and our Instagram page that we created for our artist Iuris (right) and we uploaded images of progress and certain locations that we had been to in general and to film as this is what similar artists posted on their Instagram pages. We have taken inspiration from our similar artists to make our Instagram page as professional as possible. I also implemented the Instagram page to be shown on the Website on the first page.

The background image on the website page that is first shown is also in the Digi Pac therefore it would create further synergy and identification as an artist through the use of the same image. Furthermore this improves the professional part of the artist as professionals also use scenes from a music video in their websites, digi pak and other products.
As Iuris is a new artist we needed to apply synergy and iconography to all of our media products and campaigns. Our target audience are anyone who likes to listen to indie music and mainly aimed between 16-22 so early stages of life. As the target audience is quite a young period we would expect all the social medias to be known and used, therefore that is why we created the social media pages. Through the research that we have carried out of research of similar artists ancillary products we were able to take inspiration from similar artists, common artists and well known artists to adapt our artist how we wanted.
When the Digi Pak was being created we knew that we would need to represent the artist and the locations that are known by the artist and as well can be identified by the audience as the locations have also been in the music video. Ben created the Digi Pak predominantly black and white as those are the colours I wear throughout the music video as I do not wear any bright colours, also the leave colour effect has been added to the images in the Digi Pak that is also included in the music video.

These are short GIF's showing some good shots that are in our final music video, I have created these to show parts of the music video that are important and to show the main locations that we used to film our music video.

Question 3: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Hi, my name is Ben and I am going to discuss the media technologies my group and I have used in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of our final product. Technology was fundamental to the creation of our final piece.

Firstly, research and planning. We used lots of presentational technologies and websites such as: Powtoon, Emaze and Prezi. These sites allowed my group and I to present our ideas and drafts to our peers in an interesting and engaging way. They also allowed us to send the links to our peers and receive relevant and constructive criticism back, we would then apply this feedback and improve our work. We didn't exclusively use just one presentation software because each on had slightly different features and each one was suited to different tasks. For example Emaze was great for creating presentations that we would show to our peer groups. This is because some of the Emaze templates allowed us to create a visual route of the development of our ideas. *Include a screencast showing this* However Prezi was more suited to other tasks as it allowed us to create a digital midmap so we could easily add to it and brainstorm more ideas. Also Prezi gives you a lot more creative freedom to place text and images where you like, whereas Emaze restricts you to the borders of the template.

Also YouTube was an extremely useful tool throughout the research stage of our final piece. It allowed my group and I to collect an array of videos and pick out interesting parts that would influence our final video. I used all of the ideas we gained from other videos to create a Steal-o-matic, which can be seen here *point to side*. This allowed us to create a rough outline of how our video might look and we began practicing some scenes, such as lip syncing *video shown on screen* and also to create a storyboard of our ideas *display on screen*. We also used YouTube to research and create a an image for our artist, we took inspiration from artists such as $uicideBoy$ and EDEN. The videos we watched that they had created helped give us an idea on how our video should be performed as we had a similar genre and artist style to these people.

The best part about the presentation software we used is the fact that it is extremely simple. This meant that no matter what anyone in our group could work on improving our research and further develop the groups ideas whenever they wanted.

Another extremely useful website for my group and I was Google Drive, we all used a shared account to upload any videos and images we captured for our construction stage. Without this gem we probably would have lost lots of footage. It was also extremely useful for the fact that we could access our files, such as storyboards and previously filmed footage, from anywhere. It meant that we didn't need to always have access to a certain computer to see what needed to be filmed.

Last and certainly not least is the most important piece of technology, Blogger. Blogger was used extensively through all stages of our product. It allowed us to upload all of the work we had completed individually and as a group and it gave us an area to collect all of our research and planning. This made it a lot easier to go back to blogger and look at what we needed to film. It also allowed us to explain and demonstrate all of the techniques we used during the research, planning and construction stages. More importantly it gave us a an easy way to get feedback and provided us a great place to store it all, it meant when we were filming we could go back to our blogs and look at the feedback we had been given on previous tasks. This allowed us to get the best quality footage, and meant our footage was always improving due to the feedback we were receiving on our blogs from our teachers and peers.

Construction, possibly the most tech heavy stage of them all. So many different techniques and software were used in the construction stage of our project.

First of all, Adobe Photoshop. I used Photoshop extensively throughout the construction stage, I had previous experience with Photoshop and so my group decided that I was the best for anything that needed to use Photoshop. The first thing I created was the Digi Pak. We knew that we wanted to use our Digi pak in the final piece so we wanted it to be finished earlier than the deadline. I used lots of techniques in Photoshop, including colour correction and removing certain parts of colour, which can be seen on screen. *Display before and after, split in half*. This was to ensure that our digi pak had cross media synergy with our website and our final piece. Take a look at all of that cross media synergy.

The next product from Photoshop was the Magazine Cover. Here Aaron had his chance to become a model, he stood in front of this green screen *point behind* where we took a picture of his front profile. We looked at a Clash magazine to copy and we found this *Displayed on screen*. We uploaded the best image of Aaron into Photoshop and started working on it. I discovered a really easy way to recreate the Clash magazine by layering it over our image of Aaron and then turning up the opacity *screencast displayed on screen*. This allowed me to line up all of Aaron's facial features to the artist on the front cover of the Clash magazine and also line up all of the text. I did some more colour correction and final touch ups, like creating realistic shadows and removing any annoying blemishes.

The next product created on photoshop was the polaroid images that we used in our video, these were possibly the most exciting things I've created on photoshop as it was so quick and simple but looked extremely professional. I used a tutorial online to look at the tools and effects I would need to use and I started to create the polaroid. I had to use lots of colour correction and tools such as 'Gaussian blur' to create a retro polaroid effect on each image. These polaroid images were extremely useful as they allowed us to create some artistic transition in our video.

The next tool that I became even more familiar with this year was Adobe Premiere. And this was all thanks to both my prelim task and the banana phone task. My prelim task, which required a lot of effects from Adobe AfterEffects, helped me to realise that I could not use AfterEffects for my final piece as the effects I wanted to create wold take too long. From our banana phone task we all learnt some editing techniques that we used in our final piece such as the leave colour effect. Adobe Premier was crucial to the creation of our final piece as we used a lot of effects on premiere to create the masterpiece 'Something more'. My favourite effect was the Leave Colour effect that was used extensively throughout our video. It allowed me to remove certain colours and turn them into black and white, which created the clever artistic effect seen all over our video, digipak and website. Even more cross media synergy!

None of this construction stage could've been created without the use of hardware. Firstly the camera, we all knew that we wanted our video to be the best quality it could be, so we decided to use Aaron's Nikon D3300. We also used a range of lenses to capture the different angles and framing of the shots we wanted. The two lenses we used 15mm to 55mm and also a 70mm to 300mm lense. Another key piece of hardware was the tripod, we came up with an innovative idea to use a one legged tripod as a handheld tripod which allowed us to get a steady shot throughout our filming and also allowed us to create the swooping shots seen in one of our polaroid transition scenes.

And lastly, the evaluation stage, we used an extensive amount of technologies for our evaluation stage. Because we wanted to present our evaluations in an interesting and innovative way, therefore we decided to use GIF's to present evidence for our evaluations. To create the GIFs we used a website called Giphy, which allowed us to show evidence of our work in a more interesting manner rather than just showing still images. The majority of the software we used in our evaluation stages was already used during our research and planning stages, such as blogger and emaze.

The final piece of technology that we used in our evaluation stage, and was used extensively in this video, would be screencast. Screencast allowed us to record everything on our computer screens. It allowed us to present evidence of what we created and how we did it extremely easily. For example we used it in this video when we were showing how we created the magazine. It provided us another innovative way to present our evidence.

I feel my group and I have learnt a lot from the creation of our final product. We ran into many barriers and issues but we found ways to work around them. The first thing we all learnt was one of the most important techniques in our video; the Leave Colour effect. I initially found the effect and taught the rest on my group how to use it. At some points I had to use multiple layers as the leave colour effect only allows you to keep one colour at a time. Therefore I learnt a new technique to layer the same section of the video multiple times on top of each other and cropping out the background, which you can see in this screencast. The next thing my group and I have learnt is how to green screen, which we learnt when creating this video. We looked at the tools we needed to use in Premier and how to replace the green background with what we wanted. This allowed us to display the evidence of how we use technologies in all stages of our production.

Aaron and Harrison began creating the website on Wix as this was the most recommended site to create a website on. Aaron and Harrison carried out research on how to create a professional website and what tools can be used to create an advanced website. Harrison found out how to show a live version of our artists Instagram page on the home page of the website. Harrison also created the contact page and set up the email and links to make sure that the contact page actually does work and can be used. The font Besom was also downloaded into wix as that is the font that has been used throughout the other products, which means more Cross Media Synergy!

Before any images were added Aaron edited each image, including the background images on each page. Aaron edited the images on PhotoShop. Aaron used many tools, such as colour gradient and contrast and brightness on photoshop to correct the lighting and ensure all images suited the dark, indie nature of our artist iuris. each image that was added to the site had been taken at a location that were in the music video to integrate more cross media synergy into all of final products. Harrison and Aaron also researched and learnt how to create a working e-commerce shop for our artists website, they learnt how to use certain Wix plugins that allowed them to create custom merchandise and a working internet shop. The techniques they learnt whilst using Wix really helped our artists website to look as professional as possible.

During the research stage, harrison and myself researched a huge amount of transition styles. We documented everything we found on Blogger and ensured that we looked at each post when we went to film the transitions. One of my favourite transitions that harrison and myself have learnt during the production of our final product was the Whip Pan transition used near the beginning of our video. We watched a YouTube video *display on screen* and adapted the technique to suit our video. We then wrote about how we decided to use the whip pan and how we had adapted it to suit our needs.

Another thing the entire group learnt was how to use manual settings on the Nikon D3300 we used to film our music video. At first we were using manual settings but when we went to edit the clips we found that the lighting wasn't quite right and the focus wasn't how we wanted it, so we switched to manual settings. We learnt how to bring a shot out of focus to then be in focus, which can be seen in this clip *Show clip of Aaron walking to camera out of focus*.

We also decided to try and use Adobe AfterEffects for one of the clips in our video, however we decided that the clip didn't really suit our video and didn't make much sense, so we didn't use it. We wanted to have a shot where Aaron was sitting down in front of the camera, with his back facing the camera, and then have him walk past the camera. We used an effect on Adobe AfterEffects called 'Keying' to outline Aaron and remove all of the background, we did on one of the clips and then layered both on top of each other.

We have learnt a lot about hardware and software over the course of this project, and have all progressed as media student as a result of this.

Question 4: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

The audience of our music video was predominantly aimed at 16 to 24 year old as these are the most common range of people that listen to indie music, we carried out research from similar artists and their range of audience, therefore we were able to aim our music video and products towards this age group.

Close to end of November we had completed our first draft for our music video and from here we were given feedback that we could respond and change our music video to what was necessary. From the feedback we could make our music video more professional and interesting to our audience, furthermore be able to develop the shots that need to be changed, for example unsteady shots and shots that are in bad lighting that were needed to be re-filmed.

Feedback from real music video director:
Nice sin city inspired effect. Some nicely composed shots. Quite an artistic and unusual perspective at the beginning - really liked that. 0:45 transition is nice and homage to Sinatra. Nice idea with the CD’s at 1 minute - really nice how it reflects the lyrics once again. 1:27 - lovely idea with the iPhone. Another strong piece all together.'

Feedback from ex student :
Iuris first draft: love the colour effects! some of the transitions are really clever like the one at 1:40. super into the shot of the graveyard over the line “i ain't scared of living.” i like the phone shot zoomed in and becoming real but i’m not sure if it works the second time, it gets a bit product placement-y in my opinion? but very original!

Digi Pak (Draft):
This is our first draft of Digi Pak and we have received feedback from our peers and teachers, therefore we were able to develop our Digi Pak and make the whole Digi Pak professional.

Feedback:
- Each image size is the wrong size and there is not enough media convergence between each product, therefore there needs to be more implementation of recognisable patterns or symbols in the Digi Pak.
- There is not enough use of leave colour in the Digi Pak, it should be used more as it is put throughout your music video.
- The 'lies' makes the Digi Pak look unprofessional as this has not been used in any other products therefore this has no link between the Website, Tour Poster and music video etc.
- Each image should cover the majority of the Digi Pak sections rather than leaving large borders around each image as more space could be used to make the Digi Pak look more professional.

Digi Pak (Final)
This is our final Digi Pak and this has been created after we received feedback on each part of the Digi Pak, from the feedback we were able to fix any issues with our first draft.

This is the coverage we done on the feedback that we received for our Digi Pak and this is the feedback that we acted upon to improve our Digi Pak to make our Digi Pak as professional as possible and to make the Digi Pak link to more products of the artist.

Music Video Feedback:
To gather more feedback I created a simple questionnaire to gather quick feedback from 4 different individuals, from the feedback of the final music video we were able to see final opinions of the finished music video.

These images to the left are the survey monkey questions that I created to gather feedback from people that had not seen the music video until I showed them, therefore the feedback would be fresh and accurate.

These are the results of from the survey monkey questionnaire below and from this feedback we knew if we needed to improve further we still could improve more.

Further Feedback:
I gathered more feedback from two peers from groups Heidi Holmes and Ivory, these are the questions I asked Tilly and Elona to gather more feedback on the music video.
1) What did you think of our music video overall?
2) What do you think the theme of our music video was?
3) What genre do you think our song choice is?
4) What did you particularly like or not like about our music video?
5) Can you identify any obvious links between our Music Video, Digi Pak and Website?

Skateboard Edit

We decided to add skating shots into the music video as this would 'liven' up the music video and we have skating shots leading to the drop and on the drop with powder paint which is shown on the drop by using the leave colour effect.

We used skating in our video as skating is not a common use in music videos and this will be different compared to the other music videos. Also using skating videos allowed more different editing techniques to also be used in our video.

This is an example of inspiration of the close up shots that we have put into our music video with close ups of the skateboard and tracking shots of the skateboard which is what we used in our music video. This was a challenge as it also included making sure that the powder paint could easily be seen without anything preventing seeing all of the powder paint.

Polaroid Photos

We created our own Polaroids using paper and laminated the paper to make a replica of a Polaroid, we used the Polaroids as a way to cut to the next scene by printing a screenshot of the location of the artist.

We used this the Polaroids for an extra edit as this suits the artist and this would also make our music video more unique as we created Polaroids to use in our music video and this would also allow me to put this in the website as synergy.

Below are the Polaroids that I created for the music video, he researched this on YouTube to find out how to create a realistic Polaroid.

This is what we used the Polaroids for the music video and these are how we used the Polaroids in the music video. This helped Ben to create a Polaroid as realistic as possible without using a Polaroid camera by using photoshop and to laminate the edited images from photoshop.

Risk Assessments

360 Swivel Research

We found this shot whilst researching for shot ideas and we found a similar swivel shot going around the person, we knew a location that would suit our artist and the shot location with the nature theme.

We used this in our music video because we all thought it would look good and it would be an extra filler that we could add to add more differentiation into our music video instead of having similar angled shots, as we decided to use a low angle 360 degree swivel shot instead of from above it added a completely different angle of shot into our music video.

This is the video where we found inspiration of the 360 degree going around someone which we thought looked good and could suit our music video so we decided to use this an inspiration instead of a high angle, using a low angle as we had not used a low angle in our music video.

Proof of Cross Media Synergy

In our music video, we have established the leave colour effect. We wanted to try and keep this synergy into our digipak. One way we thought we could do this was by using the leave colour effect on the side of the digipak with our album track list. Ben has layered two images together, one with a black and white image, with the other one in colour. All he did after this was razor out the colour on parts he wanted to get rid of. This would create this effect that roles in synergy with our music video.

It also has synergy with our website as both the website and digipak have the iuris sketches and the indie drawings on them. This helps iuris' audience to identify his products easily.

Digipak Peer Feedback

Below there are a lot of feedback that are very useful. We were looking for just constructive criticism and we have been some really useful points that we can implement straight away. For example, the criticism on the lies and how we should use our 'iuris' sketch we are already working on. This with the criticism without any spines. We have taken this criticism on board and we tried to keep the black and white theme aswell with the iuris name down the side.
We needed this feedback because we had lost all motivation and we didn't know what to improve, this feedback that people have spent time on has helped us see what we are clearly missing, in order to reach the higher marks we need to use this to gain an advantage.

The digipak looks good with the two tone black and white. Using the opposite colour font on there looks good as well. The pictures all link back to the music video as well. 8

• Like the colours
• What’s with all the lies stuff??
• Cant really read the text on song names
• Like CD
• 6/10

I think there needs to be a big title with the name of the artist because it is hard to see and you wouldn’t really be able to know who the artist is. There is no spines. I really like the black and white theme. The images and the writing surrounding the images is really interesting and it looks independent and original. I like that the images have colour in them but they may look better with black and white images with little colour in them. It is very consistent and it is appealing to the target audience.

The theme you have going throughout is consistent and the pictures you have used are bright and fit together well. I also like the way you have contrasted black and white with the bright pictures.
However the borders are a bit too thick, so you can’t see the actual pictures and song titles as well as you could. Also you are missing spines??? And why lies?
8/10

Really like the colour scheme, matches with music video and synergy. Like the repetition of ‘Lies’ , as a constant reminder. However, it is a little busy and there are a lot of colours used, maybe remove a few colours? I really like the black and white border and CD section. (High level 3)

I really like your digiack! I think it is really unique and different and fits well with your video and your website. I really like all of the pictures you have used as none are in the same location yet they are similar because the artist is wearing the same clothes. As your artist is quite ‘hipster’ I think you have showed this in the digipack. I really like all of the writing around all of the images as I think it is very unique and different.

Love the funky style to your digipak, makes it really interesting to look at.
I think the pictures should possibly need to be bigger as it makes them harder to really see them.
LOVE the CD.
LEVEL 3

The continuous theme of the ‘lies’ throughout and alternative random images create an interest. Also, I feel that each image throughout the digipak compliments each other which is vital on a digipak. However, I’m confused on why there is a rainbow effect around the CD.
Iuris:
Include close up photos of the artist to promote him more. However the graphic are great.

Storyboard Evaluation

Adobe Premier Before and After Leave Colour Effect

First Steps to twitter

Here are the foundation steps to the twitter website, we are still undecided in which banner we should use. We have used the Iuris logo for the profile picture as a development of our character and this is a way of promoting our image. When people see this symbol i hope in the future people will know who we are. Just like Bon iver's Yin and yang.

At the moment we have not added any tweets on this platform but when we do, we will provide a lot of behind the scenes action, tweets about myself and more. We will try to keep it daily to present us using social media and that we are active.

Feedback to Navigation Bar

This is our updated version to our navigation bar, Our original navigation bar with much smaller in the left corner with a black font. This meant on some of the pages it was really hard to see. A navigation bar should be large and eye catching so people have the accessibility to look at the other pages. So therefore this new navigation bar is bold, clear and easy to flick through the website. With the green on the navigation bar showing where you are at the moment.

Website First Steps

Harrison and Aaron have both collectively been creating the website, starting from a plain canvas to our first, completed draft now.

We individually tackled different parts of the website, with myself just bulking it up with all the text thats in the website. Aaron on the other hand was involved with the whole creativity of the website, he added all of the edited pictures and backgrounds.

We have chosen to use the besom font because its our style of font which conveys all throughout our artist. We love this style of font because this is approachable, fun and this style of font is not to bold but something you would see and remember it is associated with Iuris.

The information page is still very basic, we want to find a cool way of improving it, maybe we could add our magazine cover to this, maybe include our Digipak in some form. This biography is all about why iuris chose to become an artist and why iuris has chosen to go down this path. We are still undecided whether to include a quote or behind the scenes footage to this page. This could convey my passion and hardworking into developing my artist into the industry.

We have incorporated our Iuris title sketches into our website, this looks like it fits right in because it keeps with our black and white style that is constant through the digipak also. We have also included this due to the inspiration we gained from Bon Iver, how he has a blank part of the website, just for sketches.

This our first steps to the 'Follow us' page. We have included links to our social media accounts with a plain background of Aaron. It is good to include our social media accounts to the website because this means that we are using synergy to help promote our artist, building our artists image even further.

This is the merchandise page on the website and we have taken influence from other similar artists by editing 'Iuris' onto the different merchandise. This merchandise is very plain but still effective, showing the logo in bold, keeping with a black and white theme we are going for.

This is the page for the tour dates, we have added a cool, original background of stones dropping into the water. It forms a perfect background with an array of colour but attention is still diverted to the tour dates. This has been written in the 'Besom' font, keeping to our artists image.

From the tour dates page, there is a buy now link which takes you to this page, we have only priced our concerts/gigs at 9 pounds a person. This is due to our first gig, people wont know what to expect, so they wouldn't want to pay a lot of money for an artist that has not performed before on stage. With the background we have chosen to be original again, with the burnt out bikes that we captured from the graffiti wall. This picture provides a straight edgy theme, keeping along the indie route.

Here is our contact page if a follower wanted any further information, we have provided all the emails in our management team. Along with this we have given a link to our social media accounts. Secondly, with the background, we have used a picture that is out of focus, it is a basic picture which again diverts all attention contact details that are displayed.

On the home page we have a little slideshow that plays a couple of pictures whilst you look through the website. These consist of memories and professional photography that best describes us as a production team and Iuris as an Artist.

This is the part of the website where we are going to add the video. We have used this background in synergy with our tour poster. This picture signifies youth, a metaphor for the urban culture. This picture links to the lyrics in our song. "I wonder how it feels to burn out young".

Merchandise Research -$uicideBoy$

This is $uicideBoy$ merchandise and they advertise their merchandise themselves through website and social media. The merchandise is basic and easy to read the FTP stands for their 'slogan' which means F**k The Population.

This is another example of their merchandise which is the 'FTP' again as this is a way $uicideBoy$ are known and this tshirt is available in white and grey as well.

This is an example of Bon Iver's merchandise and it is just the artists name as well as a ying and yang which is used over the website and this is needed when making merchandise to make sure it relates back to the artist and

This is a second example of Bon Iver merchandise which is just showing Bon Iver himself with a photo on the chest of the t-shirt.

Leave colour

On Adobe Premiere I edited each shot to create a leave colour effect which means parts of the shot will have colour. For example the buildings to the right of the shot have colour and the trees behind have colour and everything else in the shot, including the artist, do not have colour. This has been done throughout the whole video until the skating scene comes in whereall colour returns.
I edited the leave colour effect to show the powder paint colours that we will have throughout the music video for example the image below shows the colours red and green which we are 2 of the colours that we have of powder paint.
There are parts of the music video which have very limited colour in the video for example this image below as this only has yellow on the graffiti wall and the rest of the shot does not have colour. I edited this to keep the yellow in the shot as this is another colour of powder paint.
This is another shot that the sky has been kept for colour and everything else is black and white as the colour blue is another colour that we have for powder paint.

First Draft, With Comments

We have used this as a form of planning due to the comments included. These comments have helped us figure out what we need to do when filming because all we had to do was watch this video and we knew exactly what to do. This has made an efficient way to plan and know what we need to in order to get the footage completed.

Tour Poster with Feedback

As soon as we printed off our first tour poster draft out, we showed the peers around us in our class our poster and how could we improve it among first impressions.

Firstly, straight away people recognised that our poster said "european tour" even though we only had tour dates in the UK. We realised straight away that this was stupid and changing this will be pretty straight forward and that will make our poster much more realistic and less misleading for potential followers in foreign countries.
Secondly, people really didn't like the way how theres was an odd amount of title dates, which made it look asymetric and fairly unprofessional. So therefore we removed the Exeter tour date and brought the Album text over to the left . This has made this less compact and the minimal text is good for an advertisement because no one wants to read bulky text in a poster.

Tour Poster Inspiration

Harrison and I found this tour poster as I have listened to Bastille in the past and we could use a similar layout as this poster as this would suit our artist, except the image will be replaced of either a shot in our music video or a photo that either has the artist in the image or a location used for filming. This simplicity of this really suits our style that we are going for.

Secondly, I like how there is a picture at the top and text and tour dates on the bottom. We can use a picture that symbolises us just like a picture in this text that will represent us and the genre that we are going for. Then below we can use our Besom font which we have used throughout, this a good way of using cross media synergy which we have utilised.

Response to Magazine Feedback

Firstly, a couple of people noticed that there isn't much shadowing around Aaron's face, they also described how it looks like barons face has been cut into the magazine and it looks like it has been stuck on the body. This highlights the lighting issues of the picture and this is something that definitely have to configure in the future before the final blog sign off. To justify this, we can create shadowing effects or reshoot the photo completely.

Secondly, People thought the magazine title was a bit too sketchy for a freehand edit, they noticed that the 'C' on the title does not look exactly the same as the official magazine, this means that in the future we will have to smooth up the edges in all of the letters i the title, making it exactly identical to what it originally was.

Magazine Inspiration

We have decided to use this magazine front cover as our inspiration. Firstly we chose this music magazine because we like the simplicity of the cover. The White bold title over the yellow cover is bold and this i feel is a way of diverting attention to the artist on the front cover and the contents around the side which will entice customers to buy this magazine. I like the portrait of the artist because people will see this magazine and they will wonder who the artist is if they do not recognise them, at this stage the text may encourage people to buy this product. Meaning that this magazine is good for developing an artists image. This is good for our image because not many people will know who iuris' is, so this style of magazine would be very useful in what we are trying to create. hopefully this will convey our indie style as well as i hope it will, accurately matching this title cover.

Reflection on Instagram

With the creation of the Instagram page, i have tried to go down a route where Iuris is presenting himself to the public as an indie artist. The 6 posts that have been published so far all have captions that have lyrics from the new song that we are creating, the hit track 'Rock and roll' by EDEN.
To start off with, i have tried to create some diversity with the posts that i have created to start off with. I do not want to have the same old posts that people will get bored with. This includes different shot styles and locations.
To make this better i feel like we should include more posts and use marketing techniques to talk about my brand and upcoming tour dates etc. This would help to develop my brand image, posting on social media platforms help small artists to develop so this is a route we should consider. Secondly, i think we should consider a photography route like the photo like the bike. The camera work and photography of abstract objects, providing metaphoric captions would help to develop our 'indie' character.
Social media is a way of expressing our brand and this process is experienced by the whole world, meaning our social media accounts should be packed with content in order for people to bump across us.

Digi Pak First Draft Reflection

I have finished the first draft of the digipack. We wanted to start to create the digipack because we want to include this into our music video as a form of cross media synergy. In addition, we also have an idea about a graphic match with a printed out copy of our digipack, we could try and include this into our video. For example, there will be a close up of the digipack and then a transition into the location of the picture in the close up shown.

What went well?
I have found a good way to adopt an indie theme that revolves around our music video. With inspiration from Bon Iver, we have created some sketches that revolves around the six pictures of our digipack. I feel I have done a really good job executing this and I feel I am the best for this role because I know how to use Photoshop, the form of software that we are using.
I really like the black and white theme around the digipack but there is still colour added in the
middle. Black and white on its own could be visually boring to look at, so this spruce of colour provides that diversity that we were trying to look for. We have tried to ceate cross media synergy with everything we have done, this includes keeping a black and white theme with merchandise website theme and font for example.

For first drafts I feel that this is really good, the one thing i would improve is making the centre spine more prominent, this is important because this will be where the CD is, so this needs to be standing out from the rest. However, it still needs to be in context otherwise it will not match or fit with the others very well.

Response to Feedback

Constructive criticism from the group pitch
It was really successful and there some valuable feedback that we took that we can add. They spoke about adding our iuris sketch to our digipack, giving it extra effect and they also said it has a 'grungy' look about it. Linking this to the website they said the bright background of Aaron in front of the graffiti doesn't match our black and white theme. This is some useful criticism that we took are going to be helpful and we are going to include this and tweak this into our final designs.
We are now seeing some significant improvements to the website, we have been given feedback on how to make it better and we have seen other groups websites and we have taken note on how to improve ours. For example, we have found out how we can spice up the about wall and not leave it boring. In addition we are going to add the iuris sketches to the website, adding our indie touch to it.
Secondly, we are going to add a music and merchandise page to it, this will add quantity and develop our character even more.

Here is the response i have added to the website so far, i have added the iuris sketches to the background of our website, this goes with our black and white theme and it also represents our brand image considerably.
