Question 2: How Effective is the Combination of Your Main Product and Ancillary Texts?

We began creating the music video 20/09/2016 and from we have all focused on finishing the music video and making every shot look good and suit the music. Since the music video was near to completion myself and Harrison have focused on creating the website and Ben focused on creating the Digi Pak and other ancillary tasks. As Iuris is a new artist we all needed to make sure that we included everything from iconography, which included the image that we had to create for the artist. We also had to create the synergy for our artist throughout the music video and through the ancillary tasks therefore the audience will be able to see a connection between all of the products and able to relate the products back to Iuris. All the products that we have created had to look as professional as possible and also had to look good as a whole product and work together as a package, otherwise the products would look bad and poorly created.
We also created social media pages on: Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as another form of marketing campaigns and the website was created to make the artist as authentic as possible. One of the main goals for us an artist and a group was that our audience could relate to: being themselves and have fun, youthful and friendly. As I was a single artist only one personality was shown, therefore the other personality was shown through the other tasks such as the poster.
As Iuris is a lone artist the website was all about him as the artist, the first part of the website when someone visits the website is a image of the artist, introducing the artist instantly. The image had to be of the artist and had to show that it is a single artist not a band, it also had to successfully introduce the artist, through outfit and location, both are seen throughout the music video.
Throughout all of our products that we created as a group for the artist we used one font, therefore as Besom was the only font that we used for everything that was a way to identify us through the font as a connection between everything which made everything more professional.

This is the first page that is shown when visiting the Iuris website (http://iamiuris.wixsite.com/iuris) and it has the graffiti wall and known outfit with artist as the background image as these are all seen throughout the music video and other products. Before we began to create the website we carried out research to similar artists to us that we have used before for other research for other ancillary tasks. Myself and Harrison researched Bon Iver and $uicideBoy$ as these are both similar artists, furthermore we got inspiration from layout of the similar artists websites and able to get what to include into the website and what should not be included in the website, such as set of images.

This is the first page that is shown on the $uicideBoy$ website (https://suicideboys.bandcamp.com/) and the website is a basic layout with album covers images being used as the first page seen when the website is opened, the layout of the first page is very basic and easy to see everything. From researching this website we made sure that our website was easily navigated and everything could easily be seen. Therefore this would make our website suit our artist more and this would result in a more professional website.

This is the first page shown on the Bon Iver website which is just simple symbols that are used for synergy for Bon Iver throughout other ancillary tasks. Therefore we inputted the similar idea of adding my drawings of the Iuris logo designs in some pages of the website. To portray this into our artist we implemented similar symbols into our website and our Digi Pak, therefore this made the artist more professional and by using symbols our artist was more recognisable as an artist.

These are the Instagram pages of Eden (the left) and our Instagram page that we created for our artist Iuris (right) and we uploaded images of progress and certain locations that we had been to in general and to film as this is what similar artists posted on their Instagram pages. We have taken inspiration from our similar artists to make our Instagram page as professional as possible. I also implemented the Instagram page to be shown on the Website on the first page.

The background image on the website page that is first shown is also in the Digi Pac therefore it would create further synergy and identification as an artist through the use of the same image. Furthermore this improves the professional part of the artist as professionals also use scenes from a music video in their websites, digi pak and other products.
As Iuris is a new artist we needed to apply synergy and iconography to all of our media products and campaigns. Our target audience are anyone who likes to listen to indie music and mainly aimed between 16-22 so early stages of life. As the target audience is quite a young period we would expect all the social medias to be known and used, therefore that is why we created the social media pages. Through the research that we have carried out of research of similar artists ancillary products we were able to take inspiration from similar artists, common artists and well known artists to adapt our artist how we wanted.
When the Digi Pak was being created we knew that we would need to represent the artist and the locations that are known by the artist and as well can be identified by the audience as the locations have also been in the music video. Ben created the Digi Pak predominantly black and white as those are the colours I wear throughout the music video as I do not wear any bright colours, also the leave colour effect has been added to the images in the Digi Pak that is also included in the music video.
